15th December 2023
Dear All,
Thank you again for attending the workshop on Screen Time and Parenting at SPN on 15th December 2023.
Overall guidance; Being a parent is hard, and so much digital technology is positive. However, research is now conclusive; poor screen management is leading to children having challenges with mental and emotional health, so it’s important that parents are aware of how best to manage this. Parents are the best Parent control app. As children co-regulate it is important that parents lead by example.
As mentioned at the end, I recommend challenging yourself to do the “iPhone effect” (see research notes below). For one day try relationship/friends/family time with no other devices in line of sight and see how it makes you feel. This will allow you to learn more about your relationship with technology. Remember, it’s all about you being in control as opposed to tech being in control of you!
