Summary of new e-book: Become WISER with Technology

Technology has changed the way we live and work, making it easier and more efficient to connect with people and information around the world. However, with this increased dependence on technology comes the risk of overuse and addiction, which can have negative impacts on our physical and mental health, as well as our relationships.

To be wiser with technology, one can follow the WISER framework. This acronym expands into a framework that consists of  ‘where do you stand’, ‘realign internal triggers’, ‘substitute online with offline’, ‘reduce external triggers’, and ‘resistance’.

Where do you stand: The first step in being wiser with technology is to understand where you currently stand with your technology usage and taking an honest look at your habits and assess whether you are spending too much time on your phone, computer, or other devices.

Realign internal triggers: Our technology use is often driven by internal triggers, such as boredom, anxiety, or loneliness. To be wiser with technology, we need to realign these triggers so that we are not relying on technology to fill a void in our lives.

Substitute online with offline: One of the most effective ways to be wiser with technology is to substitute online activities with offline ones. By making a conscious effort to engage in offline activities, we can reduce our screen time and improve our relationships with those around us.

Reduce external triggers: External triggers, such as notifications or alerts, can also contribute to our overuse of technology. To be wiser with technology, we need to reduce these external triggers by turning off notifications or using apps that limit our screen time.

Resistance: Finally, to be wiser with technology, we need to practice resistance. This means being mindful of our technology use and setting boundaries for ourselves. By practicing resistance, we can regain control of our technology use and improve our overall well-being.

Technology comes with its own set of banes and boons but by making conscious choices about our technology use, we can improve our relationships, productivity, and well-being. This book provides an in-detail guide into imbibing the WISER framework into our lives thereby increasing our productivity and life quality.
