3 Reasons for being in the Digital Wellness Movement

Recently, I was reflecting on the motivation behind joining the Digital Wellness Movement (Enabling People to lead a healthier relationship with technology)

The 3 reasons are ‘Me’ (how digital technologies affect me), ‘We’ (how digital technologies affect people around me’) & ‘Us’ (How digital technologies affect society in general):

·        ‘ME’: Till date, I still struggle with my Digital Wellness. There are good days & bad days. There are days when I’m using screens to thrive in the world but there are days when I’m overloaded with back-to-back meetings, screen fatigue, etc. I’ve come to terms with the fact that it’s a constant journey of failing, experimenting & improving. You have to develop a ‘growth’ mindset in order to learn & love the journey.

·        ‘WE’: If we look up from our screens, we’ll realize everyone is hooked to their screens constantly be it during walking, driving cars, or talking to people. It’s something that I see every day of my life.

·        ‘US’: Reading research around Digital Wellness makes me concerned. There are tons of research talking about the unhealthy use of screens leading to mental health, physical health, loss of productivity & other issues. One survey which is still stuck with me is ‘46% of young adults would prefer a broken bone over a broken phone’

Ultimately, seeing these issues, my vision in life is to enable people to lead a healthy relationship with technology. The goal is to see a world where people are using tech to thrive in the world instead of distracting them from what matters.

If you have been working for a cause & to change the world for the better, what are your top motivations to contribute & be a part of the cause?

Would love to have your thoughts in the comments section.
